The original Pulse put a flat display on the front showing battery and e-liquid level. The Pulse 2 raises it into a curved dome and wraps it in what Geek Bar calls the Binary Orbit Light, a ring that indicates which mode you are in.

Practically, the dome is easier to read at an angle, which matters because you rarely look at a vape straight on. The mode indicator is the more useful half.
