Geek Bar Pulse vs Pulse X: Which Should You Buy?

Two of the most searched disposable vapes in the United States sit right next to each other on the shelf. Same brand, almost the same name, different device. Here is the difference in plain terms.

The short answer. The Pulse gives you 15,000 puffs, a 650mAh battery and fixed airflow. The Pulse X gives you 25,000 puffs, an 820mAh fast-charging battery and adjustable airflow. If you want the cheaper one, buy the Pulse. If you want the one that lasts longer and lets you tune the draw, buy the Pulse X.

The specs side by side

The Geek Bar Pulse holds 16mL of e-liquid and is rated to 15,000 puffs in normal mode. The Pulse X holds 18mL and is rated to 25,000. Both run 5% nicotine salt and both charge over USB-C.

The battery gap matters more than the puff numbers suggest. The Pulse runs a 650mAh cell. The Pulse X runs 820mAh and fast charges to roughly 70% in about 15 minutes. If you have ever had a disposable die halfway through a day, that is the part of the upgrade you will actually notice.

Two modes, one real difference

Both devices toggle between Regular mode and Pulse mode. Regular gives the higher puff count and a cooler draw. Pulse mode pushes more power for bigger clouds and stronger flavour, and burns through e-liquid faster.

The Pulse X is the better implementation of the same idea. It moves between roughly 12 watts in regular mode and 20 watt bursts in Pulse mode. On the original Pulse, flavour tends to fade as the battery drains. The X holds up better late in its life because it runs the coil more consistently at lower voltage.

Airflow is where they actually split

The original Pulse has fixed airflow. No switch, no adjustment. The Pulse X has a one-click adjustable airflow control. Tighten it for a sharper, more concentrated draw, or open it for a looser, cloudier one.

On most disposables an airflow switch is close to decorative. On the Pulse X it makes a real difference, and it is the single feature most likely to change which device you prefer.

The screen

The Pulse X ships with a 3D curved LED screen showing puff count, battery percentage and current mode. The original Pulse has a flat LED screen showing the same information. Both are useful. The X is easier to read at a glance.

Flavours and what we stock

Both lines cover the same classics: Blue Razz Ice, Watermelon Ice, Sour Apple Ice and Cool Mint. The Pulse has also run through a set of themed releases, including the Savers Edition and the Sour Edition, and the Pulse X has its own special editions such as the Meteor, Jam and Slush editions.

VaperDudes carries 53 Geek Bar Pulse listings and 46 Pulse X listings. The full range, along with every other Geek Bar device, sits on the Geek Bar brand page.

Price and which one to buy

The Pulse is the cheaper device and the Pulse X costs a few dollars more. Work it out per puff rather than per device and the Pulse X is the better value, because the extra 10,000 puffs cost less than the price gap between them.

Buy the Pulse if you want the lowest price today, you are trying a flavour you have not had before, or you do not care about adjusting the draw. Buy the Pulse X if you vape daily, you have been frustrated by a device dying early, or you want to tune the airflow. There is also a Pulse X 2, rated to 50,000 puffs, if you want the longest-running device Geek Bar makes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Geek Bar Pulse and the Pulse X?

The Pulse holds 16mL of e-liquid, is rated to 15,000 puffs, runs a 650mAh battery and has fixed airflow. The Pulse X holds 18mL, is rated to 25,000 puffs, runs an 820mAh fast-charging battery and has adjustable airflow plus a 3D curved screen. Both use 5% nicotine salt and charge over USB-C.

Which is better, the Geek Bar Pulse or the Pulse X?

The Pulse X is the better device. It lasts about 10,000 puffs longer, charges faster, and lets you adjust the airflow, which the Pulse does not. The Pulse is the better buy only if you want the lowest price or are testing a flavour you have not tried.

What is the difference between a regular Geek Bar and a Geek Bar Pulse?

A regular Geek Bar is a single-mode device with no screen. The Pulse adds a Regular and Pulse mode toggle, an LED screen showing puff count and battery level, USB-C recharging, and a much larger e-liquid capacity at 16mL.

How many puffs does the Geek Bar Pulse X really last?

The 25,000 figure is the rating in regular mode. In Pulse mode the device draws more power per puff, so real use lands lower, usually somewhere between 12,000 and 18,000 puffs depending on how much of the time you spend in Pulse mode.

Is the Geek Bar Pulse X 2 different again?

Yes. The Pulse X 2 is the newer and larger device, rated to 50,000 puffs. It sits above both the Pulse and the Pulse X in the range and costs more than either.
